Yuhuangding Park is located in the downtown area of Yantai City, Shandong Province. On top of the hill in the park there is the Jade Emperor Temple, hence the name of Peak of the Jade Emperor. In the 19th year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu (1893) in the Qing Dynasty, the Peak of the Jade Emperor was renamed as Yuhuangding (Peak of the Jade Emperor). The scenery on top of the hill is as beautiful as that of a fairyland.
With pine trees and cypress trees set off each other and palaces and pavilions neatly arranged, Yuhuangding Park looks like a comely and elegant traditional Chinese painting. Main architectures in the park include the Lesser Penglai Pavilion, the Jade Emperor Temple and the Jade Emperor Pavilion. First built in the Yuan Dynasty, the Jade Emperor Temple was later renovated and expanded in the Ming and Qing dynasties to the present scale, with the architectures of ancient-style temples and pavilions. The Jade Emperor Pavilion is an architecture complex with solemn and elegant buildings in a harmonized overall arrangement.
With extraordinarily beautiful sceneries, Yuhuangding overlooks the ocean and makes tourists to have the feeling of being in a fairyland. On top of the hill in the park, tourists can take a good look at the splendid views of natural beauty and the bustling downtown area of Yantai.
