Fujian Province - Quanzhou City Climate

The land of Quanzhou has a tropical marine climate and is influenced by the monsoon. As a result, the climate is warm and wet almost all year round with annual average temperatures of about 18C-20C (64F-68F). Therefore a visit can be made to Quanzhou any time of the year, although between April and November is probably the best period.

Tips:

From May to June, Quanzhou often experiences frequent rainfall; so remember to take an umbrella along with you!
Summer (July to September) in Quanzhou often lasts for a long time but temperatures are not as high as some other parts of China. The average summer temperature is about 26C to 29C (79F-84F). So bring plenty of summer clothes if you do choose this period of time to come.
Quanzhou is very susceptible to typhoons, mostly in May, June, October and November. We recommend you use detailed weather reports available on the internet to try to avoid them.
Although winter (December to February) is not too cold (snowfall is unlikely), cold waves do often come in February, October or November. Again, pack appropriate thick clothes if you come in winter.
Quanzhou's unique traditional festival is called the Zhongyuan Festival, also known as the Pudu Ri in Pinyin, which usually lasts for one month starting from July 10th in the Chinese lunar calendar. During this month, people carry out sacrificial rites to their ancestors, entertain guests and perform local operas.

Quanzhou also holds a tourism festival every year in different locations around the city. Tourists and businessmen come from all over the world to gather, enjoy various folk performances and tourism product exhibitions. The government uses this opportunity to attract investment, which greatly encourage the development of the city's economy. The dates of this festival vary from year to year, so check the internet if you are interested.

Jinjiang, a city governed by Quanzhou, is the so-called 'Shoe City' of China for its well developed shoe industry. Every year in April, the city holds the International Shoe Exposition to promote cooperation with companies from all over the world. Foreign investors from America, England, Italy, German, Japan and other nations also come to hold talks with local companies. It is the largest scale, most influential and most professional shoe exposition in China. It is worth considering when planning your trip.
